Living in Israel, biblical history surrounds you everywhere without even leaving the house. My home town Beit Shemesh is mentioned in the book of Judges as being the place where the Ark of the Covenant arrived on its way back from Philistia drawn on an ox cart. Today ancient Beit Shemesh lies beneath a tel and has been quite extensively excavated although there is still more to be done.
